Each rank in Scouting is attained by meeting various requirements that include learning about the world around us, learning life skills, or demonstrating leadership. When young men and women join scouts either from crossing over from Cub Scouts or coming into scouting new, the first thing they will work toward is the Scout rank. From there scouts will work together to earn their next rank. Starting with First Class scouts can sign off on each others requirements so younger scouts learn to work with older scouts, and older scouts learn mentorship and leadership skills.
Each Scout will have their own book to track their requirements. To learn the specific requirements for each rank please review the official BSA Rank Requirements PDF.
